Well the last few weeks have seen us just getting together and running through some ideas for songs.Taking a riff or chord sequence and working with it and seeing if there's any idea of where to take it come out.At the very least we just record it (just so we don't forget it) and keep it for another day if nothing immediately comes from it.I have lost count of the number of ideas I've had where I haven't recorded them and of course forgotten them.
So as it stands at the moment we have some ideas down and have started to work on one or two of them, usually putting down a basic drum track followed by rhythm guitar, though this is always open to change as the song develops and the lyrics and phrasing take shape, sometimes resulting in the song taking a whole new feel and direction.
I guess that's a lot of the fun in doing this as you sometimes never know what the end result is gonna be from just a basic idea and to hear the song take shape as the tracks are added, although equally sometimes you just hear how you want it to sound and be arranged from the off.
It finally seems I got Sonar configured properly as the last little niggles that have been bugging me have been sorted, the forums over at
www.cakewalk.com have been a lifesaver and of course there's always the manual

.
I have also been given some more tracks from Nigel at
www.bridal-tunes.co.uk for mixing from his latest project,so those along with some previous ones he gave me will keep me busy for a while.
have a good one
